With only four years to go until their 40th anniversary, Realty have been taking a look back at their history and their humble beginnings….

Cast your mind back to 1983 – Prince, Madonna and David Bowie were topping the charts; The Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – the most popular film of the year; the pound coin enters circulation; the CD was launched, and the average UK house price was only £34,795!

It was in that same year- 1983, that Realty Management was born.

Established as a small specialist Property Management Company. Realty in 1983 operated out of a townhouse style office in Stockport, with a small band of individuals dedicated to maintaining Properties within the Greater Manchester area.

Realty’s very first client was a Resident Management Company controlled development of 39 apartments in Chorlton. Most notably, this RMC group are still clients of Realty’s today. Mr Padden, a resident of the development tells us:

“The staff at Realty Management have always performed to an exceptionally high level of professionalism.  Overall, the relationship between the residents, the development, and Realty Management has been a very satisfactory one”

So what is Realty’s secret?

No doubt things have moved on from the times when site visits were undertaken by Property Manager’s in their Austin Metros. If Realty had to select just one factor that has led to the growth and longevity of the company – it would most definitely be the exceptional staff that the company has employed, whom work tirelessly to deliver a first rate service. Realty’s longest serving staff member Trish Wren has worked for Realty on and off for over 30 years and has seen many changes during this time.

It was in 2014 that the Realty saw the biggest change with the company acquired by three incredible shareholders, all of whom had experience within the Property Management sector. It was in this year that Daniel Pollard, at the age of only 29, became Realty’s Managing Director.

The business has seen significant commercial success since Daniel’s involvement, with the portfolio of managed properties growing by 45%.  This includes appointment at the two largest developments that Realty has ever been instructed on, in its four-decade history.

Fast forward to 2015 and an office re-location, re-branding and complete changes to banking and property management software packages; has seen Realty transform; into a reputable and rapidly growing Managing Agent, now considered one of the best-known firms in the North-West and also the UK as a whole.

2015 also saw the recruitment of key individuals that might not normally consider working for ‘smaller’ firms. Property Management Director, Robert Prichard, joined from a larger agency in this year and brought with him an abundance of experience that has supported and crafted the exceptional Property Management Team that exists today.

One client expressed their delight by stating:

“Realty are our Management heroes.  We have gone from feeling unloved and wondering what we were paying management fees for with our old company, to positivity, patience and above all else, progress.  Realty really take ownership and responsibility for the property they are managing. They care as much as the owners do about issues and are proactive about tackling any problems thrown at them”.

Realty has been recognised with several prestigious accolades at National Awards, in recognition of their success, including Managing Agent of the Year in 2017, Highly Commended Best Managing Agent of RMC/RTM Blocks in 2018, Highly Commended Managing Agent of the Year 2019 and has been shortlisted for Business of the Year 2019 at local level.

Realty are very proud of their reputation, their history, and are looking towards a very bright future. At present 95% of Realty’s business growth is through current customer recommendations and word of mouth. Recommendation is how the company wishes to continue to grow, to be seen as a people’s property management company, which is unique and indispensable in terms of personal service.
